Mission 6
Design for Flight
Pick the frame, motors, propellers and battery. Then prove it flies.
Difficulty
Briefing
You are the engineer. Build a multirotor from parts, check it against the engineering constraints, and test it in the simulator against the customer’s requirements.
Objectives
- Meet the customer’s requirements
- Pass every engineering check
- Survive the test flight
Physics in play
Thrust-to-weightBattery energy vs hover powerRedundancy
Hampton’s .02 cents
every gram you add to make it fly longer (a bigger battery) needs thrust to carry it. Past a point a bigger battery makes the flight SHORTER.
Instructor insight
It would behoove you to change one part at a time and watch which checks move. Engineering is controlled experiments.
